HudHud Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 September 2026

Hudhud is an app for learning the Arabic words of the Quran's short surahs. It is published by Amr Shams ("we"). This policy explains what information the app handles and why.

The short version

  • You do not need an account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
  • Your learning progress stays on your device.
  • If the app crashes, it sends an anonymous crash report so we can fix the problem.
  • We do not show ads, and we do not sell or share your data.

Information stored on your device

Hudhud saves your lessons, review history, progress and settings on your device only. We never receive this information. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it permanently.

Crash reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, to learn when and why the app crashes. If a crash or serious error happens, the app sends a report containing:

  • technical details of the error
  • your device model, operating system version and app version
  • a random identifier created for this installation of the app, which lets us count how many installations a problem affects

Crash reports do not contain your name, contact details, location or learning progress. Google processes them on our behalf and keeps them for 90 days. See Google's privacy policy.

Update check

When the app starts, it may download a small file from our server to check whether a newer version is required. The request contains no personal information. Like any web request, it reveals your IP address to the server. We do not use it to identify you.

Google Play

If you install Hudhud from Google Play, Google gives us summary statistics, such as the number of installations and active devices. We cannot identify individual users from these statistics. Google's own privacy policy covers Google Play.

Children

Hudhud is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

  • To stop all data leaving your device, uninstall the app. Crash reports already sent are deleted automatically after 90 days.
  • Because we never collect your name or contact details, we cannot link any crash report to you. If you have any questions or requests, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If what the app collects changes, we will update this page and its date before releasing the new version.
